Need More Specific DNS Specifications - migration to Office 365

I received the migration instructions for CNAmes, MX and txt records, but I am not clear on what the NAMES of these entries should be.

Here's the instruction for autodiscover nad Email Cnames:

"Create exclusive Autodiscover and Email CNames

AutoDiscover ⇒ autodiscover.outlook.com

email ⇒ email.secureserver.net"

Does this mean CNAME:AutoDiscover and DATA:autodiscover.outlook.com

and CNAME:email DATA:email.secureserver.net

...or is it CNAME:autodiscover.mydomain.com and CNAME:email.mydomain.com???

(My current CName is CNAME: mail.mydomain.com)

And does the instruction "add an MX for mydomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com"

Mean: Add an MX with NAME: MyDomain.com and DATA:mydomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com?

and then should the text record be NAME:mydomain.com DATA:v=spf1 etc...?

Thank you!

Good afternoon, MarilynMa. Welcome to the support forums.

I do apologize for the delayed response. I can certainly assist with your DNS inquiry.

There are 3 important fields for DNS records:

Name/Type/Data

Name always has the domain included. For most "Names", the field is left as just the domain. That said, if it's autodiscover, it would look like:

Name: Autodiscover.domain.com
Type: CNAME
Data: autodiscover.outlook.com.

Name: email.domain.com

Type: CNAME
Data: email.secureserver.net.

MX record:
Name: Domain.com

Type: MX
Data: domain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com.

TXT record:

Name: Domain.com
Type: TXT
Data: v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all

Please let me know if you need anything.
