Sales rep says that Dynamic IPv6 Static is available as of beginning of October

My sales rep said that IPv6 is available with dynamic IPv6 and static IPv4 as of 10/7/2014 on SMC D3G modems.  I phoned tech support this evening, who told me that the modem has IPv6 on the network side but not on the customer side and that he didn't think that Comcast did IPv6 on the customer side at all.

Folks, TRAIN YOUR STAFF.  That your front line support doesn't think you're doing IPv6 at all is a pretty big concern as to whether you'll be able to adequately troubleshoot it when there's outages.

Anyhow, the call's been escalated to secondary who has a 48-hour response time.  We'll see how this goes.  The tech support guy also told me that I needed to call my sales rep to discuss, and doesn't seem to understand that if sales sells it, it's their job to support it or sort it out.

It's not my job to sort out your messaging, your features and your company communications.

Hello kaladron and welcome,

Please allow me to clarify what your sale reprsentative may have been trying to convey.

Comcast will be deploying an IPV4 and IPV6 dual stack for SMCD3G on 11/18/2014. This is ONLY dynamic functionality and will continue to support IPV4 static IPs. This initiative is being put forward to assist all Comcast customers flexible and gradual migration startegy for all endpopints, networks, and applications. The IPV6 static IP is currently projected to be available in the early 2016 timeframe and is a direct function of IPV4 Static IP availability exhaustion.

Hope this heps you out.
