Activate your WiFi Extenders using the Comcast Business app (Answered)
Introduction
This document provides step-by-step instructions on how you can activate your Comcast Business WiFi Extenders from your network using the Comcast Business app.
Note: Your Comcast Business Gateway must be activated before you can set up your WiFi Extenders. You will not be able to use or activate WiFi Extenders if your Gateway is in Bridge Mode.
Extenders activation requires a supported mobile operating system; please see Getting started with Comcast Business Internet for details.
Before activating your WiFi Extenders
- Download the Comcast Business app on the App Store or Google Play.
- Think about where your WiFi Extenders should be placed. Your WiFi Extenders should be in a room halfway between your gateway and an area without coverage.
- For the best signal and performance, please ensure that the WiFi Extenders are visible and not blocked by furniture or other large objects. Avoid metal objects when placing the WiFi Extenders, as they can interfere with the WiFi signal.
- Don't plug your WiFi Extenders into power outlets that are controlled by a wall switch.
Setting requirements
To activate and use your WiFi Extenders, your Comcast Business Gateway must not be in Bridge Mode, and your network must have the following settings enabled:
- An enabled and broadcasting WiFi network (i.e., your WiFi network cannot be disabled through the Gateway's Admin Tool (10.0.0.1).
- One WiFi network name and password (i.e., you cannot have a separate WiFi network name and password for your radio bands, either 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz, 5G Hz, and 6 GHz, depending on model).
- Your network still has all radio bands.
- This allows your Gateway to sort out the best connection at any given time for your devices.
- A password to join your WiFi network (i.e., your WiFi Security Mode setting must be password-protected)
Note: If you make any changes to your WiFi network name or password, certain WiFi-based devices in your business may prompt you to enter in the new name and password before using the device.
Getting started
- You must open the Comcast Business App on your mobile device to activate your Comcast Business WiFi Extenders. If you do not have the Comcast Business App, scan the QR code or download the Comcast Business App from the App Store or Google Play.

- Choose Activate with QR Code or Activate with Bluetooth to start activating your WiFi Extenders.

- If you choose Activate with QR Code, tap Continue to scan the QR code on the back of your device. This will automatically input the WiFi Extender’s serial number into the App for you.

- If you choose Activate with Bluetooth, hold your mobile device close (within six inches) to the WiFi Extender you want to activate.

- You can also manually enter the serial number listed on the back of the WiFi Extender and tap Continue.

Note: It may take up to 5 minutes to bring the WiFi Extender online.
- Once the WiFi Extender is activated, you will be prompted to name your device. Enter a Device Name and tap Continue.

- Your WiFi Extender is now active and will continue to adapt to your network for the next 2-3 days. To help optimize your WiFi Extenders, some of your WiFi settings will be automatically managed. Tap Done.
