Gigabit Pro in Atlanta
Can anybody from comcast give me some details about the Gigabit Pro service being offered in Atlanta soon.
Pricing, availability you know the little details.

This is all that is available at this time.
On Thursday, April 2, 2015, Comcast publicly announced Gigabit Pro - a symmetrical, 2 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) service that will be delivered via a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution. It will first be available in Atlanta Metro starting next month. Announcements are tentatively scheduled to follow in other Central Division metro areas throughout April and into May.
Given that this offering is a first-of-its-kind speed tier combined with the media’s intense interest in gigabit speed announcements and our TWC transaction, we anticipate the first local announcement in Atlanta will grab the attention of national press. To the extent this announcement could drive questions from business customers and prospects, the following talking points are intended to help frontlines reps differentiate our Comcast Business Internet and Ethernet products from the new Gigabit Pro residential offering.
Pricing details will be available once Gigabit Pro is made available in the market.

I just called the support number and ask if they would be offering the gigabit service to Business Class accounts and was told NO! I told the rep that that was a poor business decision and that the network is the same for business or residential accounts so it would make no sense not to offer it.
The reason I switched to business class was to avoid the usage cap now im stuck with a contract that will cost thousands to get out of and will be left in cold when they start to roll out this new service which lets face it this is just a gimmick to compete with google fiber and people wonder why Comcast has such horrible customer service ratings.
If somebody from comcast could address this please do so.
I have no problem with the service it's self has it has been reliable but If I can get a service that is 200-400% faster why wouldn't I want that!

I have a bad feeling this service isn't going to be as competitive as it may seem. Mainly the price point likely won't be where many expect it to be. Considering Comcast charges $399 for their 505Mbps service there's a good chance this will cost $500-$600 per month, if not more.
I sure hope I need to eat my words here, but I just can't see Comcast offering a 2Gbps service for under a few hundred per month.

Well if its only being offered to a limited number of customers then it will fail for sure.
Im still pissed off that they will not be offering the service to current business customers. That should be your core target for a power user type of service. Sure I will pay a little more for a higher level of support because having a 4 hour SLA and dedicated support is a good thing for me. I am sure most of the other people are here that have business class are of a techincally higher skillset that the marjority of people and understand what the extra money is for.
To me only speed and reliability are the only things that matter.

For me it was the institution of the data cap charges in Nashville about 3 years ago. So it sort of incenses me that this new service (only available on residential) doesn't have a cap....

I would agree usage caps are a joke and stifle inovation. I understand the ban on running servers on a residential classified line
but if you get a business class connection you are free to do what ever you want and the infrastructre is the same.
This is why I still don't get the refusal to offer the FTTH service to business accounts.
Any chance that an actual Comcast employee with some authority or knowledge of this could comment or message me??

Comcast does offer FTTP, it's just very expensive. I also don't believe they'll run it to a home office, it must be a physical business. If I remember correctly someone on here got a quote from them and they wanted like $1000 for a 50/50 line.
The only upside I see from this announcement is that Comcast is promising to roll it out on a much large scale then anyone else. Which is great.
I also can't see them imposing a cap on a fiber connection, it just doesn't make sense and I'm unsure even Comcast could find a way to justify one.

They already said there won't be one. That's why I'm a bit miffed. I went business class explicitly because we got charged overages on residential back when they first started charging in 2012. Now, here comes along a MUCH faster service, that has no caps and will (likely) be cheaper. Kind of obviates the necessity of me moving to business class.
I'm not worried though, because I'm lucky enough to have Google Fiber coming to my town

They still haven't justified the capping of normal residential service. Whats the point other than to generate another revenue stream. If you are a monolpy I guess you can do what you want.

Is this forum actually monitored by comcast employees?
Still waiting on a response to my intial question wether or not you will be offering your shiny new service to business account holders????

Yes, there are 1-2 employees who frequent the forum. Though, your question is a tough one as it's likely that decision was made very high up, so they may not actually have an answer for you.
