Reset your voice modem (eMTA) (Answered)

Introduction

If you are having trouble with your Business Voice service, such as a loss of dial tone, resetting your voice modem (eMTA) may help.

Note:
Resetting the modem will interrupt any active calls.

Basic troubleshooting

Resetting your voice modem will solve some connection issues. To reset your modem, follow these steps:

  1. Find the reset button on the back of the unit.
  2. Use a pen or any pointed, non-metallic object to press the reset button until you see the lights on the front of the unit go off.
  3. Release the reset button and wait for the unit to fully restart (this may take up to five minutes).
  4. Once the lights have returned, your service should be restored.

Note: The Business Voice modem includes a battery backup that will prevent the device from completing a full reset if the device is simply unplugged from the electrical outlet. It is important that you never remove the battery from your modem for troubleshooting purposes. Removing the battery leaves you without a dial tone in the event of a power outage.
