Comcast Business Mobile phone activation (Answered)

Either your new phone from Comcast Business Mobile has arrived, or you have a phone that you already own, and you’d like to bring it to life on Comcast Business Mobile!

Activation times can vary, but the process typically takes about 10-15 minutes. Once activation is complete you will receive an email from Comcast Business Mobile confirming activation of your phone.

Since you'll temporarily lose phone service while you switch from your old service provider, we recommend using an internet accessible device (e.g., laptop or, desktop computer) to complete activation.

If at any time you experience problems while attempting to activate your phone, contact Comcast Business Mobile Customer Service at (844) 963-0206 for assistance.

Important things to know before you begin

  • Your order was set up so that either a physical SIM card (pSIM card) or an embedded SIM (eSIM) is required for activation (either by yourself or your sales agent). Depending on which type of SIM is used on your phone, the steps you need to take to activate it will be slightly different. Please click here for more information about SIM cards.
    • If you ordered a new phone that requires a pSIM, it will be shipped with the new phone.
      • Note: Motorola and Samsung phones already have the pSIM card inserted.
    • If you are activating a phone that you already own (BYO) that requires a new pSIM, it will be mailed to you.
  • We’ll need information from your previous service provider to transfer your number.
    • Make sure you have a copy of your bill and your account port-out PIN, sometimes called account PIN, transfer PIN, temporary port-out PIN, security PIN or number transfer PIN.
    • If you don’t know your account port-out PIN, you’ll need to contact your previous service provider for assistance.
    • Numbers can’t be transferred to tablets or smartwatches.

You should:

  • Ensure that your phone is on the latest operating system.
  • Back up the data on your current phone.
  • Locate your Apple ID or Google account and password — you'll need this information to log back into your phone later.
  • Locate your bill from your previous service provider.
  • Connect to WiFi on your current phone if you will be activating from it. That way, you'll still get instructions for the brief time you lose service. It is recommended, however, to perform the activation steps on a different wireless device, such as a laptop, tablet or desktop computer.
  • Download any voicemails you want to continue to access after activation. When you change service providers, you lose saved voicemails.

Activate a new, transferred or existing line on a pSIM phone

If you are activating multiple phones, pay close attention to the pSIM cards. Each pSIM is uniquely linked and labeled with the IMEI number on a specific phone.

  1. Unbox your new phone, charger, pSIM card and any accessories that you’ve ordered.
  2. Make sure that the phone you want to activate is powered off.
  3. If you already have existing Xfinity (residential) or Comcast Business services, make sure that you are not logged in to the Xfinity MyAccount portal or My Account for Business.
  4. Log in to My Account.
  5. Scroll down to Subscribed Services and click Activate Line in the Comcast Business Mobile box.
  6. Select the phone you’d like to activate. You'll be asked whether you want to keep your existing number or get a new number.
    • If you are keeping your existing number, you will need the One Time Pin (OTP), the account number and security PIN from your previous service provider.
    • You will also need to provide some additional information, such as your billing address. Unless your location has changed, that will be the billing address you used with your previous service provider.
    • If you want to get a new number, select I want a new number. You'll get your new number once activation is complete, and we'll also include it in an email confirming that your phone is active.
  7. Select Activate.
    • If all of your information is correct, the transfer process typically takes between 10-15 minutes. You’ll receive a confirmation email when the activation is complete.
  8. Eject the current pSIM card and insert the new pSIM card that you received from Comcast Business Mobile into your new phone.
    • Click here for information about how to remove/install a pSIM card in an Apple phone.
    • Samsung and Motorola models arrive with the pSIM card already inserted.
  9. Power up your phone and get ready to experience the unique benefits of Comcast Business Mobile!

Activate a new or transferred line on an eSIM phone

Activation of an eSIM phone requires a WiFi connection, preferably using a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. When transferring service to an eSIM activated phone from a pSIM phone, do not insert the old pSIM card into the new phone. Doing so could result in technical issues while trying to activate your phone.

  1. Unbox your new phone, charger, and any accessories that you’ve ordered.
  8. After your phone has been successfully activated and you’ve received an email confirming the activation is complete, you’ll need to download the software for the eSIM.

Download eSIM software

You can download the eSIM software in one of three ways, depending on your phone model. Power up your new phone, connect to a WiFi network, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: When you power up your phone you may see the letters SOS on the screen. This is normal. It will disappear once the SIM software is downloaded, and the phone is fully activated.

Notification sent to your new phone

For Apple iPhone 12 and newer models, a notification sent directly to your phone is the most common way to activate your phone. At this time, Androids do not support this option.

  1. When you see the notification at the top of your iPhone screen, tap on it.
  2. Settings icon on the screen, then tap on the words Xfinity Mobile Cellular Plan Ready to be Installed.
    Note
: do not be concerned that it does not say Comcast Business Mobile. Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile operate on the same cellular network. Your phone will be linked to the Comcast Business Mobile plan that you requested.
  3. On the Activate eSIM screen, tap Continue  at the bottom of the screen.
  4. On the Cellular Setup Complete screen, tap Done at the bottom of the screen.

Scan a QR code

For Apple iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and 11 models, scanning a QR code is the most common way to activate your eSIM phone. At this time, Androids do not support this option.

  1. Scan the QR code below to activate your eSIM.

    QR Code

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate your eSIM device.

Visit a website

If you are unable to scan a QR code, you can enter a URL address in the Cellular section of Settings on your iPhone to activate your eSIM.

  1. Open your phone’s Settings app and select Cellular.
  2. Tap Add Cellular Plan.
  3. Tap Enter Details Manually at the bottom of the screen.
  4. In the SM-DP+ Address field, enter gsmacct.vzw.otgeuicc.com.
  5. Leave the Activation Code and Confirmation Code fields blank.
  6. Tap Next near the upper right corner of the screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

Activate an existing line on an eSIM phone

When transferring service to an eSIM activated phone from a pSIM phone, do not insert the old pSIM into the new phone. Doing so could result in technical issues while trying to activate your phone.

  1. Unbox your new phone, charger, and any accessories that you’ve ordered.
  2. Make sure that the phone you want to activate is powered off.
  3. Log in to My Account on your computer, laptop, or tablet.
  4. Click Scroll down to Subscribed Services, find the Comcast Business Mobile box, and select Activate Line. Then, select the phone you'd like to replace.
  5. Click Replace your device then Bring your own.
  6. Select the type of phone you are switching to (e.g., iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, etc).
  7. After your phone has been successfully activated and you’ve received an email confirming the activation is complete, you’ll need to download the software for the eSIM. There are two ways to do this:
    • eSIM Quick Transfer – use this if you are transferring a pSIM card or eSIM software from one iPhone to another compatible iPhone or converting your existing pSIM card to an eSIM on the same iPhone.
    • eSIM Transfer – If you’re not using the iPhone Quick Transfer process, after your phone has been successfully activated, you’ll need to download the eSIM software manually following the Download eSIM software directions above.

If you experience problems while activating an iPhone

Make sure to choose Set Up Over WiFi (not Set Up Over Cellular) when activating your phone.

If you've activated your phone, however the phone is not working properly, confirm that you see Xfinity Mobile on the top left of the home screen. If you don't, follow these steps:

  1. Connect to a WiFi network.
  2. Go to Settings > General > About.
  3. Wait for the Carrier Settings Update prompt to appear, then select Update.
