Exchange account display names reversed or incorrect
Hello,
I just moved my client/your client to your Exchange services, which mostly works great. However, several of the user account names are displaying either completely wrong or with their first and last names reversed with a comma.
For example: Jennifer Smith's user account, shows up in her customer mailboxes as "Jennifer, Smith", which is of course incorrect format. It should be either "Lastname, Firstname", with comma, or "Firstname Lastname", without comma. It's very frustrating for her because it looks so unprofessional.
Some users have been renamed so they can use the same mailbox when they took over from an ex-employee. Those accounts are showing the old user's name when sending outside the organization.
I manage other clients with their own Exchange servers, and I know where their properties are to change these issues (and how to run the Recipient Update Services), but I have no access to this on the Comcast system. The names are set correctly, and have been reset several times in the control panel.
FYI, I tried calling tech support on this, and the nice lady I spoke with obviously didn't understand anything about the Exchange services and kept telling me "You change that in Outlook, check your accounts settings." Anyone using an Exchange account knows you can't do this at the Outlook client level, its done at the server.
Its very frustrating being an IT support person myself. Usually, if I have to call support, I am beyond tier 1 support already. But when they wont forward me to to Tier 2 to correct the issues (by taking to someone who understands the systems in the first place!) its difficult and frustrating, especially for my client.
I've seen some closely related issues posted on the forums here, so I was hoping I'd have better luck requesting help in this matter. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the reply Jon, I got a call from the tier 2 support finally and a few emails later we are all fixed up. Everything is set and corrected. I have to say, didn't actually take them too long to call me (wihtin a day) and once I sent the corrected information , they fixed everything within the next day. Not to bad, we are all happy!
PS> I have to post under another name here, I am logged in, yet it will not let me pick my username. Just keeps saying "complete your profile". Well I did that the other day, signed in, signed out again, and back in, and the forum wouldn't let me continue. (oh well, I am fine as long as Outlook is all working for my users!)
Thanks!!!

Hello gregthegeek,
Welcome to the forum.
Sorry for the issues you had trying to correct this.
The community would like to help but can clarify a few items for us?
1. What is the Internet browser you are using when you are trying correct the User names?
2. Do you get any errors?
3. Have you ever delete an older email account and recreate it using a different name?
Thank you
