Comcast SMTP server is blacklisted

We tried to send email to a customer and the messages bounced back with following error:

Final-recipient: rfc822; hglocke@online.de
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554 For explanation visit http://postmaster.1and1.com/en/error-messages?ip=76.96.107.72&c=bip
Last-attempt-Date: Thu, 09 Apr 2015 14:19:58 +0000

From their web site:                        554 No SMTP service - IP address is black listed

Hello quetek and welcome,

As you can see in your post, you customer's email server has blacklist your email address. So this must be resolved by your customer's email administrator to get your email address off of that email server's blacklist.

Hope this helps you out.

They block the IP of the Comcast SMTP server(s) not my email address.  This should affect all Comcast customers who use the same SMTP server(s) for outgoing email (smtp.w14c.comcast.net in our case).

We run into similar problems in the past and Comcast support was able to remove their IPs from the blacklists.

There are 1000s of people using these SMTP servers.  Of course there will be abusive activities.

As said, I've reported these blacklisted cases before and Comcast was able to resofve it with the people who maintains these lists.

What does it mean to be listed at the UCEPROTECT-Level 1?
It means abusive activity was seen from IP 76.96.107.72 directly within the last 7 days.

Concrete allegation:
IP 76.96.107.72 tried to deliver mail to spamtraps.

As of right now:

 LISTEDUCEPROTECTL1

I'd suspect your network/machines are infected with little or no regular IT maint. and either your IT support is ineffective or you have none.

I got a voice mail with a number to call back (888-565-4329) and a 4-digit extension (1740).  When I made the call the automated system asked for a 5-digit extension.  Could you have the call me again during business hours (9-5 US Central Time).
