ipv6 and bridge mode.

Hi,

Is it not possible to have dual stack  and be in bridge mode?

the IPv6 was activated  for me today.

In bridge mode. I could get the IPv6 address, but NOT the IPv4 address.

I had to take it out of bridge mode to get both IPv6 and IPv4.

(CS reset it )

I tried cloning the MAC address in to my router. No luck.

Does this sound , right.?

Or do i have to get a Tier 2 tech to change it on their side?

PS.

this is funny.

CS tell me that. I had to choose IPv6 or IPv4. I could not get both.

She said she asked 4 other people  and they said no. One or the other.

When she rest my modem. She ask what I saw. I told her I have both IPv6 and IPv4.

"She said what? That is not right" LOL

The first part; yes in Bridge Mode you should be getting dual-stack a v4 DHCP address and a /56 via DHCP

The second part; send me your CM-MAC I would like to know who you talked to..

ok, Still having a problem with the IPv4 , not coming though in bridge mode.

I can get the IPv6 but, not the IPv4.  It started the day that IPv6 was turned on the 11-20.

Bridge mode- only get IPv6

Normal Mode - I get IPv4 & IPv6

Anyone with the Netgear ( in bridge mode ) having any problems with this?

I am testing this with a wn7 computer directly connect to the Netgear ( comcast modem).

I have the Setting ( in windows ) set to obtain info autoomatically. on both the IPv4 and IPv6.

I tryed cloning the MAC adress of the Netgear in to my router. that does not work.

Just wondering if the Netgear firmware is blocking IPv4 when in bridge mode.

I would think the comcast just updated the firmware to get IPv6.

Hardware Version 1.04

My Firmware is V3.01.04

Is that the newest firmware?

How are you putting this into bridge mode?

No Comcast is not blocking IPv4, I have seen this before when the RF was really bad..  Can you try and disconnect all devices reboot the cable modem allow the CCR to be online for about a minute and reconnect your devices

This is the latest firmware

I originally, had a tech do it. But, for testing, I was turning off all firewalls and DHCP.

When it gets fixed, I will be asking a tech to put it back into True bridge mode.

I Don't mean Comcast is intentionally blocking it.

I mean maybe the last firmware update has a bug in it that block/turn off/is not doing the forwarding.  what it needs to do to get the IPv4 address when the DHCP is off.

I have disconnect the modem for 10 mins ( powered down).

Then plugged it in ( for 5 mins ) .

Then pluged in my Win7 computer directly in to port 1. I then wait ( 3 mins ) for the IP addresses.

And still not go on IPv4 with the DHCP on the netgear CG3000DCR modem/gateway unit.

Been doing this step to test it for all my test.

RF - are you talking about the Downsteam/upsteam Frequency ?

I just read on another forum from a comcast IPv6 Team. ( NetDog ) He is from Parker, CO

That was posted on the 21st . He posted this :

"  Just an FYI the Netgear CCR Dual-stack has been rolled back due to issues with bridge mode.. "

So, i guess some one knows about it.

That is me :)...  The issue was when the device was in bridge mode it had an issue where the bootfile put the device back into router mode..  That is no longer an issue..  I am taking a look at your CM-MAC..
