Why when my modem/router goes down I lose my network?

I have had some issues with my Comcast modem/router going down. I have a staic IP. I have assigned all my devices, NAS(s) and printers, their own IP addresses. But when the modem/router goes down I lose all connections to everything on my network. Why and how do I change this so this will not happen?

Hi ctphoto.

I can help with your connectivity question. If your devices have their own IP address, this does sound like you are using the DHCP within the leased gateway. If the gateway is offline, the DHCP will also be offline as well. You may want to look into using your own personal router or our Connection Pro services.
