Network Info Needed

I just starting helping a friend with their business network. I am a retired IT Professional with lots of network experience.

Can someone please let me know where I can read up on how comcast configures the Netgear CG3000 gateway and what services is provides besides acting as a "cable modem". My friend has a Linksys Wireless Router as the only device attached to the gateway.

Also, does comcast allow clients to log into the gateway and see the confi and/or make changes?
