Need help with CG3000DCR

We have an internal L3 switch that has 3 vlans on it. One vlan is configured to pass all traffic including internet traffic across our MPLS network to our datacenter. The second vlan is used for some devices that we want to direct all internet traffic out to a local provider. ( in this instance it's comcast) The third vlan is set up to connect our switch to the broadband. There are routing rules in place on the switch to direct traffic accordingly. This all worked with a DSL modem from Century link. We just had the CG3000DCR installed a couple days ago and now I am trying to get it to work. I have changed the Internal LAN on the CG3000DCR to 192.168.43.1 /24. Our switch vlan 3 interface has an ip address of 192.168.43.2. I added a static route on the CG3000DCR to route traffic destined to VLAN2 on our switch at 192.168.43.2 .

My static route on the CG3000DCR

Name Test

Destination 10.x.x.x

Mask     255.255.255.0

Gateway IP 192.168.43.2

This is not working. What am I doing wrong. Like I said earlier this same exact setup worked with the DSL modem.

Thank you very much for your time.

Hello wittwem and welcome,

Definitely need more clarification of your networking environment. Please see my questions/comments/responses below. Thanks.

I have changed the Internal LAN on the CG3000DCR to 192.168.43.1 /24.

Okay, so what did you set your start and stop dynamic IP range to? This should be something like start=192.168.43.10 to 192.168.43.199, if you wanted to use the entire 189 dynamic IP addresses translation table.

What is the subnet mask you used for this?

What is model of your L3 switch?

Our switch vlan 3 interface has an ip address of 192.168.43.2. I added a static route on the CG3000DCR to route traffic destined to VLAN2 on our switch at 192.168.43.2 .

Please clarify what you mean by "  I added a static route on the CG3000DCR (CG3K) to route traffic destined to VLAN2 on our switch at 192.168.43.2 .  "?

What is meant by Destination 10.x.x.x? Per your above, if you have programmed your CG3K DHCP IP address to 192.168.42.1 then you cannot be routing anything to 10.x.x.x.

Look forward to hearing from you to further assist getting this working for your business.....

Hi,

Thanks for responding to my post. I did work with support and the fix for my problem involved a firmware update to the CG3000DCR. I did not have to change any of my configuration settings. For future reference for anybody having the same issue I will answer your questions below:

Okay, so what did you set your start and stop dynamic IP range to? This should be something like start=192.168.43.10 to 192.168.43.199, if you wanted to use the entire 189 dynamic IP addresses translation table.

The range was set to 192.168.43.30 - 192.168.43.100 Subnet mask was /24

What is model of your L3 switch?

The switch is a S1500 Aruba MAS.

Please clarify what you mean by "  I added a static route on the CG3000DCR (CG3K) to route traffic destined to VLAN2 on our switch at 192.168.43.2 .  "?

I'm not sure if I can clarify it anymore. I added a static route on the CG3000DCR that routes traffic back to the switch vlan 10.102.43.0 through the VLAN 3 192.168.43.2  interface of the Switch.

What is meant by Destination 10.x.x.x? Per your above, if you have programmed your CG3K DHCP IP address to 192.168.42.1 then you cannot be routing anything to 10.x.x.x.

With all due respect I disagree. As evidenced by the firmware update fixing the issue. Remember that the switch is a L3 switch. All I have to due is get the traffic destined to the 10.102.43.0 subnet on the switch to the switch interface 192.168.43.2 and then let the switch route the traffic from there.

Thank you for your time and reply.
