Is it possible to request a Modem/Gateway/eMTA that has no wi-fi capability? (D50/10, 4 Phone Lines)

New Install (D50/10, 4 Phone lines)

My client does not want any Comcast Wi-Fi capability on-site.

Can a modem/gateway without Wi-Fi capability be specified for a new installation?

Not a device where the Wi-Fi can be disabled, but a device with NO built-in Wi-Fi. (example: Arris TM804)

thx

Hello woody123 and welcome,

You can contact 800-391-3000 and request that your wifi Comcast Gateway (CG) be changed to a non-wifi based CG. You can order a non-wifi CG with any new installation.

As apparently you know, you can disable your wifi CG by logging into the business class portal with the administrator account and follow instructions :  http://businesshelp.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/comcast-business-wifi-hotspot-directory-information/ .

The only CG that can be currently ordered are: Netgear 3000, SMCD3G, or DPC3939 or 3941. If you are interested in a supported customer owned  modem (COM) simply go to http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net and use the business tier gauge and put your cursor on the blue ball and drag it to 50/10 speed tier. Then scroll down to see the currently supported COM you can purchase and caontact comcast to activate within your account.

Hope this helps you out.

Thank you VBSSP-RICH

If I request the NON-wifi SMCD3G CG,

what 4-line eMTA is currently spec'd for a new 4-Phone-Line installation?

Or will Comcast install 2 x 2-Line eTMA devices?  Model?

Regards,

All Comcast services uses its own modem and unlike residential service can one modem cannot be used for internet and telephone. Therefore, if your business requirements are to use 4 telephone lines, then you will get an Arris TM604G to facilitate your digital voice service. Again, the Arris TM604G will be dedicated for your telephone service and your SMCD3G dedicated to your Internet service.
