Comcast Gateway LAN is class c, need it to be class b

Our LAN is class B and needs to be for our purposes.  Right now routing through a third party firewall to reach the comcast router which is only can be set to class c subnet.  Would prefer to use comcast router as the only gateway and firewall but it needs its LAN setting to be 255.255.0.0 to accomodate our network.  Can Comcast change this?

Hello TXCC and welcome,

The Comcast Gateway (CG) will accommodate modifications into other specific IP Address classes. The only exception is the DCHP server address d-octet is not able to be changed from .1. I believe this should present no issue to you being able to login to the CG, using an Enet cable interconnected to any LanPort 1-4, bring up browser and enter 10.1.10.1,  and making the username=cusadmin/password=highspeed.

Hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the reply.  We have our own dchp.  The issue is the comcast router is hard coded to accept addresses that are 255.255.255.X rather than 255.255.X.X which is what we need.  If it's lan address could be configured for class b subnetting we would be golden.
