Best modem for 1.2g business plan 2025, Own equipment, and Is Upload Throttled?

Two questions - given my 1.2g business plan is out of contract, i.e. not in a bundle, and cost went up signfiicantly, am considering trying my own equipment. Possibly downgrading. Have wireless.  Currently have the comcast modem in bridge mode. All working fine.

1. Which modem to get? Had an Arris S33,   Years later, in 2025, is there a better modem I should get, to future-proof?

And,

2. By using my own equipment, are my upload speeds really throttled at 35Mbps?  or is that just a warning because Comcast cannot guarantee things given my own equipment

Thank you for any advice, comments, experience.

user_055164 Use this site to review current approved devices https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned?mboxRed=true&s_tnt=126324%3A1%3A0&adobe_mc_sdid=SDID%3D6189789D191F02E0-640024CB99694709%7CMCORGID%3DDA11332E5321D0550A490D45%40AdobeOrg%7CTS%3D1750172592. Make sure you are getting one approved for "Next Gen" speeds or it may not support their higher upload speeds. You are fine to use your own device, just want to make sure the device supports the service you have in full. Were you also looking into a possible new offer as well? We are happy to review any offers with you to find the best fit if you like.

Ah thank you Eric. i see where the 35Mbps comes from. So I should be OK w an Arris S34.   Am working on a new offer w a specialist now, hoping to have osmething settled by next week.   Seems that offers are scarce unless I want mobile phone too, which I do not. Still working on it. Investigating all options.

Comcast does not support the mid/high split upload speeds on customer owned equipment at all.  They require you to rent the Comcast gateway for upload speeds greater than 35Mbps.

Hi, @adorsey! Thank you for your feedback and correcting the information in this thread. You are correct that with our Comcast Business service and your own modem, the maximum upload is 35 Mbps at this time. The Xfinity residential service gets the higher upload speed with mid split and a owned modem that is compatible with Next Gen speeds. This article shows more about what to expect when you use your own equipment, https://business.comcast.com/support/article/internet/comcast-business-cable-modem-device-compatibility

While I have you @Comcast_Ray , are you aware of any plans to change this policy, and make the mid/high split upload speeds available for Comcast Business customers with their own cable modem?

We have been rapidly updating the rules for modems and mid split but I don't have any knowledge of when or if this will update for our Comcast Business customers, @adorsey. I know as a company our goal is to get everyone to the faster upload speeds so I am hopeful to see that available in the future.
