txt record for domain verification

i am trying to add a txt record for domain verification, i added the record and the domain is not validating it. I have waited 12 hours, which is normally well within the correct waiting time.

any clues as to why? or can you check to see if it is in the DNS but has not yet propogated.

It really depends on the time to live value for the zone on the authoritative servers for your domain. It could take as much as 72 hours before a caching server queries the authoritative server. Have you tried to see if the TXT record is live from another source? For instance, if you've got a linux machine you could do a "dig -t TXT @ " to see if the record is live, then check with one of those DNS test websites that can do lookups for you as well..
