Reverse DNS Setup

I need to have a reverse DNS record set up for one of my IPs.

RDNS (Reverse Domain Name System) means reverse name registration. It is also called a PTR record.
Rdns identification; hosting or virtual server service, hosting your own server or a leased server

It can be done by the companies that provide the service from which you receive the service. In order to do this, you must inform the ISP company that you have received the service which name you want to be registered to which ip address. For example; For the 192.168.1.1 ip address, you want to register a Rdns as www.domain.com. If you notify the ISP company in this way, they will make the necessary registration for your IP address.

If you do not register with RDNS; You may not be able to send mail to the mail servers of the companies that provide mail service. Most of the companies usually check RDNS records, while some of them check SPF records.

In fact, all servers with DNS service have the possibility to register for RDNS, but when the IP address is allocated, such as RIPE, the main ip providers enter records to enter these RDNS records into the name server addresses of the ISPs that lease the ip address, so only ISPs can enter these records.
If you have received a C Class ip address belonging to you from your ISP company, you can have your IP addresses forwarded to the name server addresses on the server you will provide and enter these records yourself.

Good work.

I don't think they needed an explanation of what RDNS was, I think they realized this forum is how you request PTRs to be created since calling comcast doesn't help lol.

Hi Michelle - I posted and sent comcast gina a RDNS requestion november 29th and a month later the post and the instant message wasn't replied and the RDNS still isn't inserted into DNS for us.

We're now at production time and I'm trying to reach out and find out how to get a RNDS inserted.

Oh goodness, I don't know how that happened but I'm happy to get it taken care of! My apologies! Please send a private message with the domain and IP that we need to set up the reverse DNS for and your name, the business name, the complete service address (including city, state, ZIP, suite number, etc), and the phone or account number to verify.
