Reverse DNS Delegation

I've had Comcast business internet for 10 years and have been running my own DNS servers in all that time. I moved and had to get a new plan because the old one no longer existed. My reverse DNS delegation is no longer working and I am finding it impossible to find someone at Comcast that can even understand what I want. Ten years ago it took 3 weeks to set it up after I moved from ATT to Comcast. I finally found the right person and got it set up. You tell ATT you want them to delegate DNS to your own servers and they just do it, no problem. Unless I can find someone a Comcast the understands and can set it up, I'm going to have to go back to ATT.

Thank you for sharing in our Forums. Great question. When it comes to PTRs, we can definitely assist with adding IPs to our small to medium business accounts. However, we cannot complete delegations for non-Enterprise accounts. Our Enterprise team and/or Cloud Solutions partners may be able to assist you https://comca.st/3NUQAm8.

@Comcast_Daryl I have had this delegation for 10 years for my block of IPs. Are you saying that you can no longer provide this for me? I guess its back to ATT.

While we can assist with more basic things on social media, we do have limited access for business accounts. Please call our business specialists at 800-391-3000 and they'll be able to assist you further. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We are always here for you.

I no longer work for Comcast.

I was able to get to a person in tier 2 and was able to get some of the settings made on you servers. We were still trouble-shooting when he just disappeared. Since then, I can't get past the tier 1 level because they don't understand DNS delegation and won't pass me on. They will have a supervisor call me, but I'm sure that will be just as useless as tier 1. I had a direct line to tier 2 with ATT because I take care of many business networks on ATT. Tier 1 is a waste of time for professional network techs. I went with Comcast when I moved from San Francisco to Fresno because ATT didn't serve my area at the time. I've been very happy with Comcast until now.

Thanks for the detailed inforamtion and I'm sorry to hear the line dropped. We can definitely look into this further.

Please send us a direct message with your full name, business name, full address, and phone number. By clicking the "direct messaging" icon in the upper right page of our forum page. Once you click on that, input our shared handle (Comcast Business) to send us a private message.

• Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "Direct Message" icon in the top right corner

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

• The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Comcast Business" there

• - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Comcast Business" from that list

• - An "Comcast Business" graphic replaces the "To:" line

• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send it

I too have been unimpressed with Comcast.  I will be abandoning their services as soon as possible because they refuse to delegate reverse DNS to Business Customers.
