PTR help needed

I had Comcast create a reverse dns entry for our mail server's static IP.

However, it does not resolve correctly.

96.93.xx.xxx resolves to
"exchange.mydomain.com.xx.93.96.in-addr.arpa"
Top Level Domain: "in-addr.arpa"

It needs to resolve to exchange.mydomain.com

I have called Comcast support at least 5 times.

What can I do?

Hello smsschulz and welcome,

Per the following DNSGoodies provided information I do not believe exchange.mydomain.com is a valid personalized enough domain name:

A mydomain-11.mydomain.com.
66.96.163.137

MX mydomain-11.mydomain.com.
0 mx-mg.mydomain.com.

CNAME mydomain-11.mydomain.com.

NS mydomain-11.mydomain.com.

PTR mydomain-11.mydomain.com.

SOA mydomain-11.mydomain.com.

As you can see there is no zone file records contained with this domain name. Please look into obtaining a more personalized domain name for your mail server and then the correct Reversed DNS can be provided.

Hope this helps you out.

No mydomain.com is not the actual domain.

It was used for an example.
