Email issues

I browsed the forums a bit first and couldn't find a definitive answer. Some that were in my realm posted back saying "fixed it" without displaying the fix haha.

I have an issue with receiving email. Here is a background of my setup. I am hosting websites off of the Comcast Business line from home. I am using Direct Admin for the control panel. when I set up emails I can send just fine but I can't receive. I made sure all of my ports are correct, checked the Direct Admin plugins and all. I even checked the MX records on my Godaddy account (MX record is just pointing to the IP of my server). I'm assuming that's all I have to do for that.

When I talked to some people on the Direct Admin forums they said it might be something on Comcast's end with some reverse DNS stuff. Does that sound correct? Thanks for any help. 🙂

HI AdamE.  For the information that you provided, this seems to be an issue with the setup of the MX records.  The MX record should point to you mail server name and there should be an associated   record that points the mail server to the IP address.  Here is a Link to information on how to configure MX records on the GoDaddy Servers.

The reverse DNS records are used for spam filtering.  They ensure a match between the source IP and the originating server name. The verification check is handled by the termination server, in the event of a records mismatch the sender will receive a bounce back message referencing the reverse DNS mismatch.

Please send me a private message with you mail server name, your static IP address and your domain. I will add the necessary PTR/reverse DNS info
