Sales tax exempt and refunds

I have opened several cases related to sales tax exemptions and related refunds.  Though, after several attempts, the sales taxes have been exempted on our accounts, we have not received any refunds for past sales tax paid.  We are located in Michigan and by state statute, we are eligible for 4 years of refunds for sales tax paid.  I have been bounced around the Comcast organization but no one has responded.

In the past, I have gotten vendors to sign a letter of assignment of sales tax refunds.  This allows me as the customer to request those refunds directly from the state treasury.  I am happy to do this if someone at Comcast will sign the letter.  I can supply the document to an authorized party in the organization.

Hi! Thanks for spending your time today to reach out to Comcast for help with the tax exemption and refund inquiries. You have reached the right place for help! To get research this further, would you mind clicking on my handle (Comcast_Gabe) and sending over a private message with your first/last name, address, and an account number or a phone number linked to the account for security purposes?

Hello, You would go to your state treasury office, most have a website with forms.  The form I've used is called 5633 Purchaser Refund Request for Sales  or Use Tax.  This is more work for the customer but I've found if you put in the work, the results come quickly.

1. Vendor must sign the form-The hardest part!

2. Customer must collect all bills with related sales taxes to support request

3. Customer sends the State Treasury request

4. State responds within 30 days (our recent experience has been in Michigan and Texas

I would be happy to answer questions off line if you want.

EHMSolutions,

I would be interested in obtaining information regarding the letter of assignment of sales tax refunds.  Where would I locate this document for my use?

I do not accept this solution.  The customer is still due sales tax refunds for a period of 48 months as per State of Michigan statute.  Please advise when the customer can expect the refund.

You may contact me directly at 214-693-5331.

Thank you,

I received an email asking if my problem has been resolved.  The answer is NO.  I still need to have someone at Comcast assist me in getting refunds for previously paid sales taxes as per the State of Michigan statute.  This requires a Comcast representative do one of two things:  (1) issue credit for sales taxes paid 48 months prior to submitting tax exemption documentation or (2) have an authorized Comcast party sign a Form 5633 so customer can go directly to the state for this refund.  Please let me know which action will be taken by Comcast.

Please contact me directly at 214-693-5331

Thank you.
