Early Termination
Has anyone had the experience of taking Comcast to small claims court in rural South Carolina. I misunderstood the contract. I lost my job and then lost my leas on my office where the Comcast service was. The new studio I moved into is rent-subsidized by the County and has an exclusive internet contract with another provider and won’t let Comcast run a cable in so that I can complete my obligation. I don't have any money to pay them.
Now they have turned me into a collection agency called McCarthy Burgess and Worth. I have tried to work with them. I tried to dial back the service. I tried to get them approved with the County for the building. Now I am out of money, no job and they want 1400. dollars for the early termination fee. This contract is a zombie. Not one byte of data has been used on this contract for almost a year.
I was let go because of Covid, I had to move into subsidized rental, I have no money they can’t run a wire into the building by law ... all this has been explained time and again and now they have hired a collection agency to compound the misery. They keep coming after me.
I want to take them to small claims court and have them explain to a judge, given the conditions of my situation why I should still pay them for not providing any service for 10 months. Has anyone gone this route? What was your experience?

Hey there, and thank you for bringing this to our attention through our forums page! After reading up on your experience with us, since this pandemic began, I have some concerns that I would like to discuss with you, regarding the situation, and how it has been addressed by us. We should most certainly be looking into this further, and I will be more than happy to do so. Can you please send me a private message, by clicking on the chat icon, in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, including your full name, and your full address? Thank you in advance, and I look forward to working with you!

Tyler:
When I go to the chat icon you suggest and it brings up a blank reply form and I fill the To: Field with: Comcast_Tyler, it returns the message “no results found” Please advise as to how to contact you.
Before we communicate on this, please look over the current Comcast Terms & Conditions; Paragraph 2.4 . There was no failure or refusal on my part to allow ingress to the installation. Comcast could not execute the installation due to a preexisting contract with the county about which neither myself nor Comcast were apprised. Legitimate diligence and efforts, tracked in email form with one of your employees, were made by myself to overcome this. Any adjudicating agency, whether it be the courts here in Walterboro or a private arbitrator, would look on this diligence not as a failure. That coupled with the simple fact that there is no money to pay Comcast for an installation that never happened and for service that was never provided. Comcast is out of pocket exactly “0”, So why are you chasing me for payment when legitimate diligence was carried out. I need to know what exactly Comcast expectations are since they have expended no resources on fulfilling this contract, and by my email trail were fully apprised of the situation as it unfolded and did not contact me back for a resolution when it became obvious that there could be no installation under the terms of the contract.

I am in a similar situation, I am having to relocate my business out of state because of COVID issues, and comcast is not in the new location. I have had a good account with them in my office and in my residence, no issues.. but now they simply don't care.. they just want money. I was told by a supervisor, Joe Franklin, that "you signed the contract, that means your committed" Wow.. that was something else!! IThe world is in an economic crisis and they only care about the money... and cybertech, not an actually lease of a space!! Literally!! I was able to cancel my residence Comcast with no problem. I have tried since August 3rd to get this problem resolved. I have talked to several "loyalty" team members, and was told a new supervisor will be reaching out. However, after reading on this forum, I have little hope Comcast will really help me. I will NEVER use them again. NEVER!!!! And I will tell me story over and over .. every where I can.
