comcast considering data caps in Chicago area does this include business accounts?

so I just read that comcast are considering data caps and I was wondering if this includes business accounts. I signed up for a business account specifically because there were no data caps AND was told by several parties that there would NEVER be data caps on business accounts. I trade for a living and therefore have some live feeds ( bloomberg, cnbc) on most of the time just in case something crops up.

thanks for any OFFICIAL comment

Hello majorkong

We don’t have a data plan for Comcast Business customers and have no plans in our roadmap to announce one in the future.

We will update the community if this ever does change but at this time we do not plan to impose any data cap for business customers.

Thank you

I am a business user and need news and data feeds to perform my trading business. I chose Comcast because they promised me NO data caps on business accounts EVER!! Now I read this and ask, will this apply to business accounts please?

Hello majorkong and welcome,

My comprehension of that article said that was a consumer which means residential customers that will have the 1 terabyte / month data cap. Your Business actual data rate cap is a direct function of your Internet Tier service like 100Mbps down and 20 Mbps up and this is typically uplifted by 5 % to 10 %. You can perform a http://speedtest.comcast.net on a browser running on a computer directly connected to one of the Comcast Gateway LanPorts 1-4.

sorry that doesn't sound right. I was told, in writing, that my business account has NO data caps at all NOR were any to be applied. I would ask that an official response be made to this request for clarification.  I thank you for your interest but I do not believe you are authorised to comment on behalf of Comcast.

In the futures and options trading community, of which I am a member, this is a VERY important point. I thank you again for taking an interest.

I am an X-Comcast BSSP employee as of Dec 2015. If you want to obtain an official current Comcast employee response, simply send either Comcast_Michael or Comcast_Jessie a private message and unless something has changed since Dec 2015, they should provide you the same response that I provided.

So how does your official answer match up to this one? FROM ComcastJacob 11 11 2015.

I would prefer to keep this in the forums for the benefit of the users.

Hello majorkong,

I believe what VSSBP-RICH is expressing is that the only limitation to data flow is whatever speed tier you subscribe to. That article is not in reference to business accounts. Essentially we do not monitor how much data you go through in a month but your limitation on the amount of data you can go through is based on speed tier.

Another way of looking at it is like your car can only go a certain speed (Internet speed tier) but were not putting any limit on the amount of gas (data) you can use. So the only limit on how far you can go (data usage) is based on how fast you car (Internet speed tier) can go.

Hopefully this makes more sense.

Thank you for the quick response but it seems to be a very convoluted answer to my question. I will ask it again in a manner that can only get a yes or no official answer.

My question,

" is comcast applying data caps in any shape or form to business accounts. Irrespective of speed?"

I would appreciate a simple yes or no answer.  I can take it from there once I have clarity.

thanks again this is very important
