Carrier transition

To whom it may concern:

We switched from CenturyLink to Comcast in December of 2014.  Our last billing that we paid CenturyLink covered the period from 11/22/14 to 12/21/14.  Our first billing for Comcast service covered 12/15/14 to 1/14/15.  CenturyLink continued to believe they were supplying service for three months following the transition, although I could not access any bills and only know of this via mail.  I'd appreciate it if you could let me know if there's a common practice that you followed that alerted them that their service would no longer be in effect and thus they can turn off the billing system  There was a note in my CenturyLink online account for those three months that billing information was inaccessable due to the account being in the process of being closed.  Before I contact them I'd like to know that everything was done to have them end service.

Thanks for your help.

Hello MisterFreeze and welcome, When ever any telephone number (tn)is ported in/out from Carrier A to Carrier B, the customer must always sign a Letter of Agency (LOA) to authorize and verify that porting process. Then the porting-in Carrier will contact the porting-out Carrier to schedule a date for release of the tn(s), then the porting-in Carrier will schedule for those tn(s) to be provisioned and activated into that Carrier's telephony network. The ONLY one who can authorize to stop payment on the ported-out tn(s) is the business owner or authorized person responsible for those tn(s). Comcast cannot have your Century-Link TNs terminated from your business account because only you are legally authorized to discontinue that service from your business. The LOA only gives Comcast your permission port in those tn(s) and does not provide any authority to discontinue those Century-Link tn(s) from your account. Hope this helps you out.
