Anybody Able to Start Service with a Short Term Commitment?
We have an HOA Pool and clubhouse that is used only during the summer months. We need a phone line (for 9-1-1 calls only) and net via wifi for members use. It's silly to pay for absolutely zero usage for half of the year.
BTW, in some states Comcast allows users to pause their service if they are not using it for a while....but not in GA. I know this because CC told us that we should disconnect and then reconnect later...and probably get a better deal.
Although I've asked repeatedly for a proposal for a short term, the contract I have been sent (twice now) is for a 3 year period.
Early termination fees are criminal....75% of ALL the remaining time left on the contract. Shameful....
This should not be so difficult.....

Stay away from Comcast, it is the most hated company in America for a reason. These peopel have zero ethics and actually steal money in the form of ETFs on the 3 year contracts every day.

Finally was able to get a 12 month term, but it took some effort and time. Surprisingly, the monthly charges were not much more than the longer term contracts. The install charges were more, but the differences in the ETF were substantial. The extra monthly charges for a 12 month vs 36 month term were about $5 more per month. Extra install was about $100. If we disconnect in 6 months, the extra ETF charges for a 36 month vs 12 month agreement were over $2,000.
VERY unfriendly to customers, but, folks, ask questions, READ what is offered, and make SURE you understand whatever you sign. If you willingly, or carelessly sign a terrible deal, and later are asked to honor it, whose fault is it? You have to be a legal adult to sign, and grownups have responsibilities. Comcast is trying to make money, but if you don't read the agreement that you accept, bad things can happen. Verbal assurances mean nothing.

I signed a 36 month contract knowing what I was signing and my plan was to cancel if I did go out of business. This is allowed per the contract, it's clearly written into it. Comcast refuses to honor the termination of business clause in the contract and are so far telling me I am an idiot and I cannot read the contract, they are just trying to bully me into paying. I do agree the one year contract would have been the far better choice had I known the unethical practices of the retention team where they will try and manipulate a customer into believing the contract says one thing when it says another. If the retention team is somehow correct then my sales rep lied to me as she said I could cancel for termination of business and not pay an ETF. Now she does't respond to my emails. So comcast is wrong one way or another but I know what the contract says, retention simply thinks I will give up and pay them. Like an unethical collection agency, the retention agents don't care what they have to say to get someone to pay or whether the debt is even 100% valid.
SO THEY ARE A HORRIBLE COMPANY AND A BUNCH OF CROOKS. THEY HAVE NO ETHICS AND HAVE LIKELY CHARGED MILLIONS IN ILLEGITIMATE ETFS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAD TO CLOSE THEIR BUSINESSES. Their contract says you can't sue us for punitive damages, but this is a criminal matter not one of negligence, so they should be liable for damages.
