VPN connection drops every 10 minutes

We are using a SoftEtherVPN server client setup using a static IP into a server.  Modem is SMC Business Gateway.  The VPN connects fine and works great.  About 10 minutes into session, connection is disconnected.  Everytime we connect it lasts the same amount of time, about 10 minutes.  From the logs I am looking at on both the server and client side, I cannot see either of those dropping the connection.  Are there any logs that I can look at on the modem to see if that is where the disconnect is happening?  Can the modem do this type of disconnect?  I have the firewall turned off to the box.  I have tested this from various locations but with same result.

Where is it at you're connecting to? Anything that could be dropping the packets for one reason or another? If you run an MTR in both directions do you notice any type of packetloss after 10 minutes?

hello tmartinac and welcome,

If you are using SoftEtherVPN (SEVPN)you might have to insure that the following ports are open on you Client device and the Comcast Gateway:

1. Port 443 - which is the secure principle Internet port used for secured transfer port that is resistant to ease-dropping, etc. The SEVPN server can also use ports 992 and 5555 for this same function.

2. Port 47 for GRE because if there are P2P tunneling specific requirments, then this is required.

3. Port 1723 used for establishing connection. You must make sure that ONLY TCP and NOT UDP is open on this.

Hope this helps you out.
