Upload speed faster than download speed?

We're on 50Mbps fiber, and we're seeing a huge discrepancy in upload and download speeds.  I just ran Comcast Speedtest and it showed the following:

Ping: 4ms

Download:  6.16Mbps

Upload:  44.75Mbps

Isn't it usually the other way around?  Shouldn't fiber be at least a bit more symmetrical?

TIA.

Rich, the OP said that this is fiber service; I believe Comcast does offer symmetrical tiers there, and the SNR/other signal data you mentioned wouldn't apply here.

If the OP is referring to "Business Ethernet" service,  I believe that the support phone number is 800-741-4141

Hello sids1045 and welcome,

Actually Comcast currently offers 16 Mbps down /3 Mbps Up , 25/10, 50/10. 75/15. 100/20, 150/20 busness class internet speeds. The download and upload speeds are a direct function of the quantity of bonding channels contained with this Comcast Gateway (CG) device. There are many possible speed variation elements such as signaling distortion, CG bootfile, etc. I would log into you CG and check your Signal to Noise Ration (SNR), upload & download power levels, as starters for your posted internet speed descrepancy.

Hope this helps you out.
