Retail Router Selection
The retail routers allowed are very limited when compared to what is "leased" by Comcast. I am dissapointed that the only options are Surfboards that have one ethernet port. My question is if you are going to sell business class service why only allow customer hardware that creates a bottleneck? I am very dissapointed at the lack of flexibility by Comcast while they push customers to ramp up speed of service. Why increase speed when you get one port to slow it all down?

Normally, many of the businessess I work with that use retail modems are using their own business- or enterprise-class router connected to the modem, with further switches/wireless access points connected to that router. This is a configuration which works well for many customers (including myself).
Also, all of the retail modems have 1 gigabit ethernet ports on them; if you need something faster, you will have to subscribe to a fiber-based service and rent an ONT for that.

The Surfboard Gateways are not the ONLY retail modem that Comcast supports as a Business customer owned modem (BCOM). As a matter of fact, you can purchase your own SMC D3G, Netgear 3000, or DPC3939/3941 which all have 4 ethernet ports. The only issue with these BCOM is that Comcast is not allowed to use/install any of their Static IP addresses on any COM.
