Question for Comcast re: Big outage in the Kent, WA area

Well, at least I still have 'net access from my day job. So, Comcast -- According to the status page, the current outage (zips 98031, 98030, 98032, etc.) Is affecting multiple thousands of subscribers. This is large enough to make me suspect a fiber cable cut or major distribution node failure.

There was a similar outage just a couple of months back. With this in mind: Is this outage related to the alleged service "enhancements" you claimed to be doing a week or so ago, or do we have another case of vandalism going? (As we did last time).

If it is vandalism, what are you doing to increase security in the affected area?

Inquiring minds, etc. Thank you.

Hello there @user_fc3678 ! Thanks for bearing with us during the downtime! The best place to get information on an area issue when it comes to Comcast Business is here : Service Status Center And for residential, it would be via the XFINITY App or the other options located here : Status Center Any details we have available will be listed, so if it is enhancements you will see a message to that effect. You can also find more information about our nationwide enhancements and sign up for alerts here : We're working hard to enhance the Xfinity 10G Network

'Frank,' please... Spare me your boilerplate and marketing buzzwords.

I asked you simple and direct questions. If you are unable or unwilling to answer them, simply and directly, then please have the decency to say so and leave it at that.

Now, let's try this again:

  1. Is this outage, in any way, related to the alleged service "enhancements" recently completed? (And, BTW, I'd be surprised if anyone outside of your Engineering or Field Techs actually have any idea of what was "enhanced").
  2. Is this another outage caused by vandalism to cables, fiber or copper?
  3. If so, what are you doing to prevent further such incidents?

Please don't give me any more reasons to loathe Comcast, as a company, more than I already do.

Thank you.

@user_fc3678 You are asking a great question. Often times, in-depth information like that is only available to our field team working the issue. However, I can assure you that we will always take as many steps as possible to protect our network and equipment. When any enhancements are made to the network to improve the service we provide, you would be subject to potential interruptions as we are completing the work. If additional maintenance work is required as part of these service enhancements, then you would also be subject to potential interruptions at that time.

We would be happy to locate as much information as possible for you, but we would need access to an account that is currently being impacted for additional details. Can you send our team a directly message with your name and address so we can pull up the account and any interruption details available to us? To send us a message, just hit the chat icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen, click "new message", type "Comcast Business" and select that profile to send us a message directly. We look forward of hearing from you!
