QOS Support

I am currently in the process of supporting a small PD. they would like to backup over the net but are conserned about bandwith usage.

Does comcast support QOS of any kind?

No, i don't believe any of the modems leased out support any kind of QoS; they're all pure FIFO. You'll need to get a separate router that can do whatever kinds of traffic shaping you require.

Will comcast respect the QOS levels set by a customer?  some ISPs don't care or use a best effort approch.

comcast uses best-effort (FIFO) on all non-voice modems; as far as I
ve experienced, my QoS policies work just as expected over comcast as they do over any other isp

Nice input here train_wreck. Another input I would recommend for this customer is Carbonite Business  from Upware that is pretty slick wrt backup for customers, too.
