Paying for Comcast business when I don’t own a business

Anyone else stuck in a contract with Comcast Business but don’t own a business? Anyone else paying almost $100 a month for WiFi and a phone service add on to SAVE on WiFi? As a resident who wanted residential xfinity, but Comcast refused to allow me to switch? I am not a business owner and have been so upset I cancelled my Xfinity mobile service with them. They lost money there. And I’d be a residential customer getting my needs met but they refuse to allow me to switch. So odd, how bad Comcast business is at how they do business with their customers. It’s embarrassing. I get new deals sent to me for business. Info about this phone service they KNEW I wouldn’t have use for and haven’t even touched the service or looked into it.

I’ve reached out at least a dozen times. But okay, let’s try for a bakers dozen.

Hey I feel for ya.....I had the same problem. We are dual zoned here in Sandwich, IL at the local airport and despite being 50 feet away from two boxes to hook up to they would not recognized our 3 apartments we have next to our two airplane hangers. We are in a 'business park' however the city gave us residential zoning due to the apartments. I was forced (if I wanted Comcast....only high speed service around at that time (mid 2016) I had to get a business account.

I'm paying ~ $220.00 a month for 300/20. Then the price went up when I noticed I was paying for some cloud/web hoting feature I did not even subscribe to. It just showed up on my bill. No email asking, etc. eventually found you can stop that service from within your account settings however I paid $4.95 a month for at least 6 months for something I never needed/ordered.

Oh I see, you are listed as residential by city. Is there a Comcast residential service arm available there in your city? I’m in Houston, xfinity is our residential option. It’s unethical and bad business to do this BS.

That’s insane. You are not a business owner, but you are made to buy business services with bloated costs for speed and bandwidth you don’t need. It should be illegal. Because, first of all, you are not a business. That should be the first qualification for business service. Additionally, I’d it legal to operate a business from your apartment? Probably not. Which makes the contract seem void. Would the city help, because where you live is being qualified as business when it’s residential? I’d look into contacting city government for guidance and help. Sorry you’re stuck with a grossly bloated service and price to Match.

Now, I’m not going to pay for service any longer.
I have zero nice things to say about the way they have handled my account.

Right. What happened is, I was living with my now ex boyfriend and his use of my xfinity residential service WiFi was using too much data, and it was costing my more. It was his bright idea I switch, which was fine when we lived together. But I moved out. And they wouldn’t let me cancel service, knowing I don’t own the business and my condo association wouldn’t even allow a business run from here. I went back and forth with the , pleading could I switch back to xfinity. That I also had xfinity wireless. That I can’t afford a $95 WiFi nor do I need that. Nope, it would cost me a $1300 ETF. So, they convince me to buy more service to save on monthly, business phone and WiFi. Ha. I have phone serve I never use and it’s not even set up to save money on this bloated cost. And what I just noticed? It’s not less. I’m paying as much or more than I was in other contract.

They promised that by last November they’d let me transfer to residential. I called then and now they say they no longer do that.

It should be illegal. So unprofessional and such a stressful situation.

Now, with my pay 75% less with Covid19, I just quit my autopay.

If they want to make a big deal, I don’t even care. Ruin my credit on top of jamming my bill and charging me for a business account when I’m not a business owner and it’s not even legal to have here.

Thanks for your message. Thoughtful and informative.
