Older equipment won't recognize new, faster connection

We moved our business internet and phone to our home which already has Comcast internet.  I want to make sure everything works on the new connection before I cancel the home service.  Some of the older equipment won't recognize the new, faster wifi.  Is there anything I can do?

Hi Jackpres1 and welcome to the business forums.

I would like to assist with your services. When you say older equipment, are you referring to leased equipment provided by Comcast or is this your personal equipment?

Personal equipment - an HP printer and a tablet - both probably about 6 years old.

Are you attempting to connect these two devices to your 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network? Some devices may not be able to see the 5GHz network.

The 5 G connection.  That's what I wanted to know - if they will work on that or if I need to purchase new items.

If your devices were able to connect to the 5 GHz on your previous equipment, they should be able to with the new equipment as well as they tend to run on the same frequencies.

Are you attempting to join the same SSID or did they change when getting a new gateway?

When you open the available networks on your printer or tablet, are you able to see the name of your wireless network? Do you still have the same wireless network name when getting new leased equipment?
