Fluctuating Speeds
For the past few days, my business class internet speed has been all over the spectrum. I have the Deluxe 75 package. Typically my speeds run around 9 megabytes a second, but now it fluctuates between 3 and 8 megabytes a second. Ive done the typically reboot of the modem, but still seems to be doing the same thing. I am at a loss as to what is going on. A similar thing happened a few months back and then the entire area lost internet for two days. I am not sure what to do or just keep waiting to see what happens.

xodus2222,
Â
Thank you for the information.
Based on your post and our tests (arp/lanpol/pkt) this appears to be an issue with the IP-Gateway.
I recommend a tech call to replace it.
Â
You can either contact our technical support at 1-800-391-3000 or send me a private message with your contact information and I can set it for you.
Â
Thank youÂ

Right now its connected to two computers. I have not added a new device to the server. I do not run an onsite server. Everything is backed up via external drives but those are not connected to the gateway.

Hello xodus2222,
Â
The community would like to help but can you clarify few items for us?
Â
1. How many device do you connect  to the IP-Gateway?
2. Did you add a new device to your network?
3. Do you run an onsite server? (mail, storage, etc)
Â
Â
Thank you

Its starting to get annoying. Ive noticed that I have a good 86Mbps in the morning and starting around 11pm. Around 9pm I bottom out at about 22MBPS and then sparadic up and down as the night goes on up until 11ish. I did the ping thing but really do not understand this packet loss info that I see on a few of the tests I ran. I just want my speeds back. Its very annoying.
Â
I did notice when I did the ping test, I had a packet loss from anywhere from 22% to 100% on the same, what looks like an ip address all from the same location.marietta ga comcast.net. I dont know what that means or if that has anything to do with what is happening to my signal.

Head over to http://192.168.100.1 or http://10.0.0.1 and post the signal levels for your modem. Should be under the "Cable modem" page or "WAN status"(depending on gateway).Â

I am detecting a trend that occurs around 10pm. Last night my internet dropped from 86.5 Mbps to 12 Mbps. Around 11:15 pm it goes back up to around 80 Mbps. I think a pattern is forming here. I am not sure what is going on at that time of night to make it do this.

Were those levels grabbed when you had slow speeds?Â

It was not. I can grab them when it happens again. If I am right, it should happen about 10pm tonight. I am starting to be able to time it right. I will grab it when it happens later tonight.

The downstream looks good. We'll also want to see the upstream to ensure there are no issues there.Â

I try to capture it again when it happens. Last night my speeds dropped from 86Mbps to 17Mbps for a short time and then bounced back up. On my end, I can not find anything that would limit the traffic.Â

Your signal levels look ok from what I can see. Have you had a tech out yet? At minimum it'd be good to have one out so we can check the line, run some test and possibly replace the modem. If possible I would schedule the tech visit for as late as posssible. It's unlikely they'll catch it in the act since it happens so late, but there is a chance the tech would be able to see something on the network changing as it turns night.Â
