Fluctuating Speeds
For the past few days, my business class internet speed has been all over the spectrum. I have the Deluxe 75 package. Typically my speeds run around 9 megabytes a second, but now it fluctuates between 3 and 8 megabytes a second. Ive done the typically reboot of the modem, but still seems to be doing the same thing. I am at a loss as to what is going on. A similar thing happened a few months back and then the entire area lost internet for two days. I am not sure what to do or just keep waiting to see what happens.

xodus2222,
Thank you for the information.
Based on your post and our tests (arp/lanpol/pkt) this appears to be an issue with the IP-Gateway.
I recommend a tech call to replace it.
You can either contact our technical support at 1-800-391-3000 or send me a private message with your contact information and I can set it for you.
Thank you

Right now its connected to two computers. I have not added a new device to the server. I do not run an onsite server. Everything is backed up via external drives but those are not connected to the gateway.

Hello xodus2222,
The community would like to help but can you clarify few items for us?
1. How many device do you connect to the IP-Gateway?
2. Did you add a new device to your network?
3. Do you run an onsite server? (mail, storage, etc)
Thank you

Its starting to get annoying. Ive noticed that I have a good 86Mbps in the morning and starting around 11pm. Around 9pm I bottom out at about 22MBPS and then sparadic up and down as the night goes on up until 11ish. I did the ping thing but really do not understand this packet loss info that I see on a few of the tests I ran. I just want my speeds back. Its very annoying.
I did notice when I did the ping test, I had a packet loss from anywhere from 22% to 100% on the same, what looks like an ip address all from the same location.marietta ga comcast.net. I dont know what that means or if that has anything to do with what is happening to my signal.

Head over to http://192.168.100.1 or http://10.0.0.1 and post the signal levels for your modem. Should be under the "Cable modem" page or "WAN status"(depending on gateway).

I am detecting a trend that occurs around 10pm. Last night my internet dropped from 86.5 Mbps to 12 Mbps. Around 11:15 pm it goes back up to around 80 Mbps. I think a pattern is forming here. I am not sure what is going on at that time of night to make it do this.

Were those levels grabbed when you had slow speeds?

It was not. I can grab them when it happens again. If I am right, it should happen about 10pm tonight. I am starting to be able to time it right. I will grab it when it happens later tonight.

The downstream looks good. We'll also want to see the upstream to ensure there are no issues there.

I try to capture it again when it happens. Last night my speeds dropped from 86Mbps to 17Mbps for a short time and then bounced back up. On my end, I can not find anything that would limit the traffic.

Your signal levels look ok from what I can see. Have you had a tech out yet? At minimum it'd be good to have one out so we can check the line, run some test and possibly replace the modem. If possible I would schedule the tech visit for as late as posssible. It's unlikely they'll catch it in the act since it happens so late, but there is a chance the tech would be able to see something on the network changing as it turns night.

One is suppose to come tomorrow, but if its acting normal then how will they ever find out what the issue is.
