Creating new wall jacks for phones

Hello, we don't know what option to choose when calling to Customer Services so we would like to ask it here. Does Comcast offer technical service where they come to our place to install new wall jacks / cables? We would like to add a couple physical phones for a room in our office, but we don't have any jacks there for that. Thank you in advance.

Hello @epi Happy New Year!

We can definitely get our Comcast business technicians out to survey the area and see what will be needed.

To use Xfinity Voice service you need a telephone handset and electrical outlets. Inside wiring and jacks are not required for service. Handsets may be connected directly to a Comcast Wireless Gateway device, or inside wiring and jacks can be connected to provide phone service throughout a residence.

Check that your equipment meets our minimum Xfinity Voice requirements.

Note: If you’re using your own modem forXfinity Voice, you verify that your modem works with your service by visiting mydeviceinfo.xfinity.com.

Additional information to know

Phone Handsets Must:

  • Comply with FCC Part 68 rules and regulations.
  • Have an industry-standard ring equivalence number (REN) of no more than 1.0.
  • Be in good working order.
  • Support touch tone (DTMF) dialing.

Electrical Outlets Used With Your Digital Voice Modem Must:

  • Be installed and operated in compliance with current state, local, and national codes.
  • Have a circuitry capacity of at least 15 amps.
  • Not be a switch outlet (except for a circuit breaker).
  • Not be shared with more devices than can be powered safely on that circuit.

Inside Wiring and Jacks Used with Xfinity Voice Service Must:

  • Comply with currently acceptable industry standards for telephone service wiring.
  • Be in good working order.
  • Have proper and consistent wiring polarity.

Phone Splitters Must Be Used:

  • In order to connect more than one corded phone or wireless base unit directly to the modem.
  • In order to connect a phone and modem/wireless gateway to the same wall jack.

In addition, all equipment must comply with all other applicable FCC, local, state, and national electrical and/or other codes.

@Comcast_Felicia Thank you for your detailed response. We think we have met all of these requirements. May I ask if there is a dedicated person / department that I can contact to request this service? Also, if we are using Voice Edge service instead of Xfinity Voice, would that be the same too?

Yes, to get this taken care of, please call our Comcast Business Sales Team at 1-800-391-3000. Let them know what you need to be completed, and they can help with scheduling a tech. There is a difference between Xfinity Residential voice services and Voice Edge. For more information about Voice Edge, check out this link

I no longer work for Comcast.
