IPV6 Prefix Delegation on Comcast-Provided Modems

Can we keep a running status in this thread of (Business service) Comcast-provided modem (by model) prefix delegation conformity?

I have several client locations in Chicago and suburbs with Comcast Business service and IPV4 fixed addresses. Every client I support has a firewall/router behind a Comcast provided modem (SMC and Cisco). I want to know when to begin testing of prefix delegation so as not to waste my time chasing phantom IPV6 capabilities on those Comcast provided modems.

Fair enough?

Thanks.

Re: IPV6 Prefix Delegation on Comcast-Provided Modems

So far the SMC and Cisco are supposdly the only ones affected.  The Netgear supposedly works as per comcast_tuska's post in another thread.

port 25 is blocked in all 3 of them for IPv6.

The Netgear also has issues with packet loss at high bandwidth, according to other threads where users have replaced Netgears with different models.

comcast_tuska has stated that SMC is working on the firmware.  It would be nice to know if that was fixed and the code is just going through testing or if they are still trying to figure it out.

It would also be nice to know if cisco has even been informed of problems and is working on it.

And none of this covers statically assigned IPv6 or statically assigned IPv6 subnets, or PTR record entry for IPv6. (which is of course dependent on static IPv6 assignments)

I think you should PM comcast_tuska and ask him to address all of this here in this thread.

From the DSLreports.com forum ("NetDog" is Comcast_Tuska on this forum)

Good idea: PM sent and copied here.

Request for weekly or bi-monthly updates on IPV6 PD issues

I've created a thread with the subject 'IPV6 Prefix Delegation on Comcast-Provided Modems', and I'd like to see Comcast updates to the Prefix delegation issues in this thread so everyone knows where to look for current status. I realize that not much may change from week to week, but regular updates (even if the status is unchanged) is much better than silence. I believe that most folks understand the fact that instant gratification is unreasonable. Regular status updates in one canonical location will help out, both in setting expectations, and when the time comes: customer feedback/testing.

Thanks for your consideration.
