Help configuring Fortigate 30D behind Comcast gateway

We have a Fortigate 30D that I would like to sit behind our Comcast SMCD3G gateway.  I've been trying to get this to work for the past week, and I'm either missing something or misunderstanding something.  What steps do I need to take on the SMC gateway to allow the Fortigate to take over the router function?

Thanks,

Harry

Re: Help configuring Fortigate 30D behind Comcast gateway

If your connection is a static IP or subnet of IP's:

Under Firewall options the

"disable firewall for true static ip subnet only"

and

"disable gateway smart packet detection"

 both must be checked.

You set your router to the static Ip that was assigned.

However if your account is a dyamic IP then I think you either need to get Comcast support to turn off the router portion of the SMC or just abandon the SMC and use your own modem (one advantage of doing that is you won't have to pay rental)

The Comcast tech helped me through this - they turned off the router postion, and now we're up and running.
