SSL Certificate for Static IP Address

Hi. I have a static IP Address with my Business Internet. I have no domain name. I would like to set up an SSL certificate for my static IP Address but do not know if this is possible. My Comcast modem is in bypass mode and my firewall is a Cisco RV345.

Comcast Modem --> Cisco RV345 --> NETWORK

I have a couple of services that I use on my network that I would like protected by SSL so that when I call the address when I am on the road, the data and such are encrypted. For example, I current call the service like this:

http://IP_ADDRESS:PORT/URL?parameter1=value1&parameter2=value2

But would like to call it with https

https://IP_ADDRESS:PORT/URL?parameter1=value1&parameter2=value2

So my question is can I purchase an SSL certificate and have it configured with my static IP Address or do I need to purchase a domain name?

Re: SSL Certificate for Static IP Address

Since we do not provide SSL certificates, I would definitely advise reaching out to the Certificate Authority to make sure. There may be a need for them to validate the domain and if that is the case, you can always come back here and click on my handle (Comcast_Gina) and send a private message with your name, the business name, the complete service address (including city, state, ZIP, suite number, etc), and the phone or account number, as well as the IP and corresponding domain you'd like for us to set up a reverse DNS for 🙂
