i seem to get packet loss

sometime it takes a few seconds to load pages. sometimes my ooma devices loses connection. sometimes i buffer when streaming. i have Deluxe 50

how can i check my signal levels or to verify if i have signal issues before i call in to report trouble?

the installer said he didnt work for comcast but he was contracted by comcast. anyways, he didnt check signals or anything. just plugged in and left.

i have a DPC3939B

any help and suggestiuons???

thanks

Re: i seem to get packet loss

sounds like you got a bad install tech; he should have had a large signal measuring device that should have been plugged into each piece of coax cable between the utility pole and the modem.

signals on the DPC3939B are found at http://10.1.10.1 or possibly http://10.0.0.1. As well, do you get the same speed issues with a PC connected directly to the DP, via ethernet, with no other router involved?

Re: i seem to get packet loss

also, i have both comcast business and residentual internet service here and i dont seem to have this trouble on the residentual gateway. this tech put a spliiter on the coax to my room. one side feeds both uints with a spltter, the other side goes to my tivo box.

Re: i seem to get packet loss

You have 16 downstream channels? I'm curious how that works, I didn't believe any of the Comcast equipment supported more than 8.

Re: i seem to get packet loss

@kraze yes, systems and devices are moving to 16x4 (and, further out, 24x4). See Arris' latest release

http://www.arrisi.com/products/product.asp?id=5016

as well, the DPC3939B supports 16, though i will say that some local cable plants aren't going up that high; one of my locations I manage has a DPC and it only bonds 10 downstreams.
