Monitoring Connection Drops

So, trying to verify and document the connection issues that i am experiencing on what seems to be a daily basis...

I have found the event log on the Cisco DP-3939b, and that is better than nuthin', but frankly it is not enough...

This has left me with a  couple of questions...

1) is it really possible that Comcast does not allow us to use SNMP for Monitoring?  I find this *unbelievable*...

2) is SNMP just not built-in to the management GUI.... Is it possible to configure on a command-line, if I could get to it...? I have done this on other Cisco Switches, so I am not worried about figuring that out...

3) IF SNMP is really not an option... (and it SHOULD BE) can we at least redirect system logs to a loghost?  Again, this should be easy...

4) How is everyone else solving this problem?

Again,  Thanks in Advance...

Re: Monitoring Connection Drops

Hi san_admin and welcome to the business forums.

I would like to assist with your gateway inquiry. I do apologize but SNMP is not a functionality available on the Cisco 3939 or 3941's interface. If you're looking for an alternative, you may want to review your private network and see if any additional equipment may be needed. Please do let me know if you need anything.

Re: Monitoring Connection Drops

Thanks, Phil...

What about syslog?

The fundamental issue is the following... I have been getting LOTS of disconnects...

I know that the DPC3939/41 send Comcast notifications of when they lose connection,  I want to get that same information.

Thanks-
