That doesn't represent an issue since the trace itself still completes

Re: Internet Connectivity - VERY SLOW

In addition to the other troubleshooting steps, have you had any issues with power in the area?

One thing I have found is that these days a lot of equipment ships with "wall warts" the ac adapters - and in some cases over time these wall warts will fail.  But, sometimes they don't fail catastrophically.  Instead, they stop producing the level and cleanliness of power needed.  Sometimes this can be triggered with lightning strikes and such on the line.  The equipment will display a green power light but have strange issues like it runs slow or locks up periodically.

There is at least one case in these forums from a few years ago with someone who had what they thought was a bad modem - they called for the tech to replace it - the tech came out, replaced the modem, and it wasn't working.  The user was quick thinking enough to take the power adapter from the new modem and plug it into the old - and the problems were solved.  Turned out that the new modem was DOA in the box - and the old modem's wall wart had degraded over time.

I have explained this to kraze before and asked him to include this issue in his troubleshooting guides - but he only knows about things that has happened to him personally and he's never seen this so it doesn't exist for him. ;-)

I do a lot of work with dd-wrt and there's only certain routers out there that work with it so I keep an eye out in the used bins at Goodwill and such for specific router models and versions - the fact is that the good devices you see there are almost always donated because they stopped working (you honestly think people donate electronic gear to a charity that works properly?) and many times a new power adapter fixes them right up.  Lots of deals that way - very nice N routers for $5 and so on...
