Intermittent dropped connection

I have an SMC 1.01 (Firmware Version 3.1.6.56) that drops its connection for several minutes at a time. We use this connection to stream live video five times every week. Each broadcast lasts over an hour, but our archived videos are often bifurcated by one of these connection drops.

 

It's dropped twice in the past four hours alone, and the only thing running on it is a ping script.

Your levels while not out of spec are bordering being out of spec, it's possible they are fluctuating out of spec, but it's hard to say. Is it safe to assume you are running this test while directly plugged into the modem?

Hello Daniel-CCC and welcome,

 

Could you let us know what is your Comcast Internet Speed.  Does your Internet only down when you are in the Video conferencing or is it totally random?

I am paying for the 50Mbps package and my comcast speedtest shows:

It goes out randomly throughout the day, I have a logger running on it or else, sometimes it wouldn't be noticable because it reconnects by itself within 7 minutes. During a broadcast is just when it's noticable to everyone.

 

P.S. It just went down again.

I think Kraze hit the nail on the head and you should call 800-391-3000, speak too a technical agent and have them send a technician out to do a full scale signaling analysis for the past 30 days.  This will uncover any spiking fluctuations on your Internet signaling that could cause your modem to inadvertently reboot.
