At the request of Comast Security I added a SonicWall TZ215 to my home office. I had professional help with finishing the installation from firewalls.com. Despite trying to add each of the recommended mail server DNS settings (which work fine on my outlook) at https://businessclass.comcast.net/en/Secure/ManageServices/ViewDNSSetting.aspx and even following the SonicWall OS user guide to instead try entering the IP addresses these resolve to, I am unable to send out the log file via email. The Sonic wall keeps having an error "Problem sending log email; check log settings". So I started a trouble ticket with Dell and they so far can't figure it out either.
Anyone get this to work? I have used with an without authentication, with POP before SMTP authentication, and in advanced added or deleted the password to go via port 25.
I should add that at this point Dell has given up and asked me to resolve with comcast, but I can't figure out how to contact the right poeple without a long phone wait and many handoffs on the phone. This dialogue below is after trying the recommended smtp.comcast.net, smtp.po3.comcastbiz.net and their IP addresses instead of names.
Their last advice:
You may need to get in touch with comcast and check with to see if there is anything in their logs regarding this.
Also the screenshot with the DNS test shows that the sonicwall may not be able to resolve smtp.***.comcastbiz.net. Please change the DNS on the sonicwall (Network->DNS) to 18.104.22.168 or 22.214.171.124 and test it.
Thank you for the update. I have checked the DNS lookup for smtp.***.comcastbiz.net on my side it seems to be resolving to 76.96.107.**. Based on the packet capture you had earlier attached the sonicwall was attempting to create a connection to 76.96.107.** but the TCP handshake does go through.
The device is sending a SYN to 76.96.107.** but does not get any response from the smtp server. Unless the TCP handshake goes through the sonicwall will not be able to send the mail.

Hi mskids. Please send me a PM with the business account number as well as the failure logs. Our Tier 2 group can investigate the issue. Also the Comcast DNS Server IP addresses are <126.96.36.199 && 188.8.131.52>.
