We have a 8 line hunt group. We currently pay for our old number to forward to our new number w Comcast. When we signed up, we were told the caller Id would show our original number, but then once service started, that it could not.
‘Our clients are a little confused. They see this other number on their caller Id. The random number assigned (Because we didn’t care when we thought it would show the original number) is totally not memorable.
So, how does one go about obtaining a “better” phone number? What does that cost? What are the options? Is there a link to explain all of that- I have not had luck finding that.
Hi Drsn and welcome to the business forums.
I would like to assist with your voice services. It sounds like what you have is a Remote Call Forwarded number.
Remote Call Forwarding (RCF) is a forwarding feature that allows a Comcast Business Voice subscriber to maintain a telephone number from a geographic area different than the subscriber’s physical location. With Remote Call Forwarding, incoming calls automatically are forwarded to the subscriber’s physical location as an inbound-only feature.
You keep your existing phone number and it will forward to your new number so that customers can still reach you on that line. However, you will not be able to place outgoing calls from the existing number. Remote Call Forwarding is an inbound feature only.
Could you elaborate on what you mean about obtaining a better number? Are you looking to change your native phone number?
I can definitely help with a new number. Just to let you know as well, we're not able to generate a phone number of your choice or what is commonly known as a vanity phone number. They usually come from a pool and you would have to select from what is available.
If you would like to do so, please private message me your first and last name, the name of your business, the full address of your business location and the phone number associated with your business account.
