I have been a very happy customer with Comcast Home Account and everything was good until I decided to go with Business account.
In August 2015 I signed up for Business Account [Removed per forums guide lines] with 5 static IP and 50Mbps line. I told the rep before first contract signing that I will soon be relocating and what is the process - he suggested that if Comcast is available in new location you can just call us to move and it will be seamless.
I did moved in December 2015 to same city within 10 miles and called up Comcast, scheduled the service and had my internet down for 2-3 days as it was during holidays season but I get it.
First surprise was I was asked to sign a new contract, an attempt to bump up the price by $10 per month which was later resolved and reverted when I spoke to Loyality group.
The order number for the move was [Removed per forums guide lines] and the new account number was [Removed per forums guide lines]
I signed up contract and didnt had much trouble, now the issue is that I am moving out of country in couple of weeks and as I called up to enquire when my contract end, which I was hoping will end in July / August 2017 as initially signed up in August 2015 for 24 months but I am being told it will not end until January 2019
I am being told because of a new contract we changed your start date to December 2015 instead of August 2015 and also changed the term to 36 months from 24 months... which is outside my understanding.
How can you change the term without the client requesting it? Also why moving a location require a new start of term date?
Please if someone can answer my query and also as our VISA is expiring we will be out of US in couple of month if not weeks, I need to know how to cancel this account.
This my friend is the standard procedure per comcast sales reps. They are all liars and will lie to get a contract signed. I have to unforunately sue them in small claims court to resolve an illegitimate etf. I can't speak to the residential services, but the business service are unethical and criminal in nature and they bank on the poor small bsuiness owner caving to their scams. The retention departments is nothing but scamming bill collectors concocting lies, this company so needs to be put out of business and everyone in the retention department needs to be jailed.
Please share the details if you can. I would like to approach this way if the resolution is not met according the the original signed contract.
My case is different than you, I have a business account and I am terminating my business. This means, according to the contract that I am not subject to an early termination fee but comcast is telling me I have to pay anyway. They are tryng to trick me into paying.
You would have to read your contract and see what it says about changing the terms or starting a new contract when you moved your service. If you have saved emails from your sales representative you can use those in court as proof the rep lied or didn't disclose the new contract to you. Their hidden agenda is to get those bsuiness ETFs as they are in the thousands of dollars not hundreds like a residential account. They also know businesses can't get the same protection from the attorney general like consumers can, a business has to go to small claims court. This is how they make a lot of money. They know many small businesses will not last 36 months and they will likely get paid the ETF because most small business owners aren't that good at reading contracts.
You have a business account, don't worry about 'moving out of country'. Just terminate your business, dissolve your company and get the paperwork that shows you terminated your business. It doesn't have to go through bankruptcy, just has to be terminated and then you can fight the ETF in court.
