Cisco DPC3941B and DHCPv6-PD and "Static" IPv6
A few questions:
- Is DHCPv6-PD mandatory for "static" IPv6 utilization? I have a /29 block of static IPv4's and I'm using Comcast's Cisco DPC3941B gateway. I would certainly like to able to split up my allocated /56 block without having to rely on DHCPv6-PD to perform this.
- I have tried several routers and I am unable to get to get any response from the DPC3941B on the LAN side for PD solicitations.
- However, if I manually configure a static IPv6 on the WAN interface of my router using the link-local IPv6 gateway address from the 3941B, I can ping6 out from the WAN interface via IPv6 just fine. Although, I have been unsuccesful routing a /64 from my LAN through to the DPC3941B.
