Unable to login to SMCD3GNV via Chrome but works fine with Firefox

Why is is that I am unable to login to the SMCD3GNV via the Google Chrome browser

but I am via Mozilla Firefox.  With Chrome I do not get the "login attempt failed" popup

unless I use an incorrect username or password but the browser just eats the attempt

and brings up a different username and ********.  Weird...
