Netgear CG3000DCR

Hello! We have Business internet 50 down and have the original CG3000DCR that we got several years ago. Is that gateway still relevant? Is there a way to get it updated? I ask because we have been having issues where the latency goes crazy, pings to 8.8.8.8 will go up to 500, 1000, 2500 ms and drop a few packets. When I reboot the modem it works for a while before going back to that.
