Advice needed: Netgear DOCSIS 3.1 CM1000 & ClearOS/Zentyal Config

I have decided to ditch this DPC-3941B Cisco modem/gateway/router/firewall and replace it with a:

Netgear CM1000 DOCSIS 3.1 modem and re-utilize my ClearOS or Zentynal gateway/firewall/router/server Linux based hardware/software. Now I realize I have the 300/25 package (hoping to get 1GB pending price) so until then it will be used as a 3.0 modem of course. If I can get 1Gbit for $300-$350 a month I would go with it. Currently, I believe it's a whopping $399.99 per month for Gbit service in my small town of Sandwich, IL heh.

My question is:  Is there any need to contact Comcast and tell them I am deep sixing the DPC-3941B and using my own (other than to get credit and return it)?  I have 5 so called 'static' IP's and was wondering how this plays into the 'you cannot have a static IP if you bypass [our] gateweay deal?

Do I need the static's? Yes. Do I need their 'gateway' service or whatever they refer to it as?

Cable-------->Netgear CM1000------>ClearOS (firewall/gateweay/router/server)------->10Gbit managed HP Switch----> LAN

Would I need to install 4 additional NIC's in the ClearOS box (doable) and assign them at that location?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. I can help with the internet service concern. Would you mind sending a private message with your full name, address, and a phone number linked to the account so I can help?

Hi

My bill says:

FutureNET Systems

900 Vincent Drive

Sandwich, IL 60548-2096

The 4 digit zip extention under 'at a glance' is shown as 60548-2377   - guess it's either.

Hi

The info is:

Tim S Dickerson

,

The phone number is and the email addy is:

I have just ordered the Netgear 3.1 modem and have not received it yet. It should be here by this Monday. If I need to contact you back when I actually get it, I can certainly do so then.

As far as the Gbit service, I would love to get that amount of throughput or at least something between that and what I have now (the 300/25), however, I don't think you offer a 500Mbit pkg and if you did it would probably be asymetrical service.

I do a lot of Linux programming and download/upload a lot of Linux distro files for KDE as well as the Kernel itself and when it's time, I will upload a handful of Linux distributions in ISO format (700MB ~ 4.6GB) each, thus the symetrical bandwidth would be a huge time saver.

If that 1Gbit pkg was availalble for $300~$325 I could swing it if I dropped down to 1 Static IP (which is really all I need), however, cannot at present with the current price of $399.9x.

I live/work at the airport here in town and the service just came to us in the airport 'business park' as you have it listed as in your system about 1.5 years ago and has very, little traffic on it....about 8 businesses off the feed coming off of the main line running along US Rte 34, so I know the bandwidth is available to us without any issue from a tech standpoint.

Thank You

It seems that the address is slightly different from what we have on the account. I will need to verify the address in the exact same way as it lists on the billing statement. Here is a link that will also provide you with what internet promotions are available at your location. Please let me know if this helps. https://business.comcast.com/shop/offers

Hi

Yes..It just requests that I sign in (already am) and then I clicked on upgrade Internet speed and it says someone will get a hold of me.

It doesn't bring up any listing of packages like it used to.

For business services, you are going to be contacted by a sales specialist with information. This way you can get the most accurate and current pricing information. If you would like I can reach out to them directly for you. Could you private message me the account number and your direct contact information and I will get someone in touch with you as soon as possible.
