using ipv6 global gateway address. it just changed after months of being the same.

howdy,

i noticed that the ipv6 "global gateway address" of my modem had recently changed. my server was using that address for its gateway for months and then it lost connectivity because of the change.

isn't that address supposed to be static? am i wrong using that address as the ipv6 gateway in my server?

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us through our business forums. Basically, the IPV6 delegation is dynamically statically assigned to our gateway which is the same way that your devices should be configured. The CMTS receives the request and assigns the IPV6 based on the IPV6 delegation on your devices. This means that your IPV6 address can change from time to time. If there are further questions or concerns I would love to help please reach out through private message with your first and last name, full service address and account number or phone number and we will get started.
