Serious Problems with the Online Account Tool for Exchange
I'm having a terrible time with the online account tool.
If I add a number of aliases for a given email user, then I list the aliases for the user, not all of them are shown in the list. One user has 8 aliases, but only 7 are listed. Another user has 6 aliases, but only 5 are listed. How can I know whether I have assigned all of the aliases to a user, if they don't all show up?
If I create a forward, then look in the Global Address List, the display name of the forward is the name of the user, who created the forward; for example, I created 10 forwards, and all of them appear as "System Administrator" in the Global Address List.
I can't add addressees to a distribution list though the online account tool. All I can do is either create or delete the name of a distribution list. I can't add any email addresses to the list.
This is awful. I'm trying to get a 20-user mail system working, and the resources, which are available to me, are not very good (and that's being kind).
How can I move forward and get this mail system up?

Hello APA_Admin,
For the alias counts not showing correctly, do you know when it started, as in after adding the 4th or 5th alias to the email box?
Please note that email forwards are just forwards and not unique email boxes with information pertain to them.
Hence they will only show the originating UID’s name in the global list.
For use try using them via outlook and setup the forward rules for use.
Unfortunately, you cannot add 3rd party domain addresses on the distribution list.
A distribution list is used to deliver mail sent to a single email address to multiple recipients that are only in your domain.
This is the information link for it. Distribution ListDistribution List Information
Thank you

I am having the same problem - but I am an experienced Exchange administrator so I believe I have a different perspective.
The "forwards" are actually Global Contacts - addreses created in the account owner's domain that do not link to mailboxes - they are simply passed through to an outside email address.
On an Exchange server, these contacts can be created to show accurate information for the recipient (full name, other contact info, etc.) On your system, it fills in the Global Address Book entries with the creators' name, and is not editable.
For example - I want to set up "mary@techgal.net" and "bob@techgal.net" as forwards to these peoples personal email - and then I want to create a distribution list "team@techgal.net" that will send received emails to myself, Mary and Bob.
I have set up the forwards for mary@techgal.net and bob@techgal.net - but when I try to add them to a distribution list in my Outlook I see three entries, all of which show MY NAME, and no way to make Mary's read "Mary" etc.
Please advise ASAP so we can use this service properly!
